Malaria Atlas Project recruiting Spatial Modellers, statisticians and research assistants, Oxford, UK

Forums:

The Spatial Ecology and Epidemiology Group (SEEG) in Oxford, which incorporates the Malaria Atlas Project (MAP) is expanding and we are looking to recruit five new team members (four postdoctoral, one postgraduate) across various aspects of our research agenda. I’d be very grateful if you could circulate these opportunities widely to any potentially interested colleagues.

Full details are provided in the links below – closing dates are from the 6th November.

1. Senior Computational Statistician: Spatial Models (Malaria Atlas Project)

This is a post under Prof Simon Hay focusing on the development of new spatial modelling approaches to estimating the burden of P. vivax drawing on both imperfect routine reporting data and community parasite rate surveys. It would suit either an experienced postdoc or, potentially, a highly computationally proficient professional statistician.

2. Postdoctoral Research Assistant: Geospatial Modelling (Malaria Atlas Project)

This is a post under Prof Simon Hay focusing on modelling the geographic distribution of G6PD deficiency and its epidemiological consequences.

3. Senior Postdoctoral Modeller in Space-Time Random Fields (Malaria Atlas Project)

This is a post under Dr Pete Gething that will focus on developing new space-time statistical algorithms to analyse patterns of change based on our unique databases of P. falciparum prevalence. It will suit a senior postdoc with extensive experience in spatial modelling, in particular random-field based approaches including Model Based Geostatistics, INLA, etc.

4.  Postdoctoral Research Assistant: Geospatial Modelling of Poverty and Population

This is a post under Dr Pete Gething to develop new geostatistical methodologies to generate gridded population and poverty datasets from a variety of household survey data and geospatial covariates.

5. Research Assistant (Malaria Atlas Project)

This is a post under Dr Pete Gething to focus on the extraction of epidemiological and related data for use in analysing changes in P falciparum prevalence.
