PALE-Blu Data Portal - livestock, environment and bluetongue

PALE-Blu is an EU Horizon 2020 funded project formed of 19 partners over 15 countries and runs from 2017 - November 2021.  .

The project will dissect the interplay between BTV, its ruminant hosts, insect vectors and the environment. We will use new and existing methods to explore the molecular epidemiology of BTV strains circulating in Europe and related source-regions (including Northern, Western and sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East and Turkey).

The PALE-Blu Data portal will make available existing environmental spatial data that can be used by project partners and the general public to assist them in their research objectives. This website will be maintained for ‘at least a year beyond the project end date.

Access to our data is for registered users only please email info@palebludata.com with your name, profession, institution, city, country.  With a short description of what data you require and what you will use it for.  Please include your affiliation to either the PALE-Blu, VMERGE or other partner projects if you have one.  Much of our data is free to registered users.  But others are restricted to approved project partners.

The PALE-Blu Data Portal will build upon the functionality and resources that have been built up over 10 years of providing data for European research projects.  From FP6 project EDEN - Emerging Diseases in a chenging European eNvironment, through to FP7 projects EDENext and VMERGE.  This site is a shining example of the continuity of the resource provisions funded by the European research funding frameworks.

This  Data Portal is designed as an archive for spatial data and a resource for project partners posting data, tools and links to help them and other interested parties with their research. We continually add to the existing resources to aid the project members in their research, and aim to provide:

  • An archive of customised spatial data for PALE-Blu partners to use.
  • A archive for data produced by the research teams for use by partners.
  • A repository of current and legacy project publications and results.
  • A showcase for current and legacy project outputs.
  • A source of hints, lists, utilities and tips for using geographic data.
  • An extensive directory of links to related content on the web.

Access to the site is available to PALE-Blu partners and the wider general public.  Permission to download datasets is dependent on user licensing and permission from data owners.  Some of the datasets are therefore restricted to specific project partners.  Others can be made available to the general members of public  Many of the datasets are also be available to the general public for download as long as they register as a site user, so please register to create a new account, and then log in.
