Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Remote Sensing and Spatial Statistics 

Fixed Term  -  2 Years, beginning November 1st 2012

£30,122 - £35,939 per annum

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join the Leverhulme Trust funded project ‘Quantifying the mosaic: testing modern analogues for African palaeoenvironments’. The team consists of two postdocs, and Dr Hannah O’Regan (PI) and Dr David Wilkinson (both LJMU). We will be examining evidence for mosaic habitats in Africa in both modern and fossil environments and their impacts on our understanding of human evolution.

The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for designing and implementing spatial and statistical analyses on data collected from satellite imagery and aerial photography. A PhD and postdoctoral experience in designing such analyses and in landcover quantification is essential.

The anticipated start date for this position is November 1st 2012. The post is fixed term for 2 years. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to move with the PI to the University of Nottingham in 2013.
