GIS Technician vacancy, Malaria Atlas Project, Zoology, Oxford, UK

Forums:

The Malaria Atlas Project (MAP), within the Department of Zoology at the University of Oxford, brings together researchers based around the world to generate innovative methods of mapping malaria risk. Ultimately our goal is to produce a comprehensive range of maps and estimates that will support effective planning of malaria control at national and international scales.

We are currently looking for a GIS Technician to support the  work of MAP.  This is a varied role covering all aspects of gathering, maintaining and curating geospatial data, creating maps and raster surfaces to support the work and publications of the group, and contributing to the design and creation of a new bespoke enterprise system to support geospatial disease modelling.

We use software including the ArcGIS stack (Desktop, Pro, Portal, and Server), FME, R, QGIS, and PostGIS. Experience with as many as possible of these, as well as programming skills in languages
such as Javascript and Python, is desirable.

The post is fixed-term to run until 31 March 2019 and is a Grade 6 role (£27,328 - £32,600 p.a.).
